SILICON SIMCOE TECHNOLOGY COMMUNITY NEWLY FORMED IN BARRIE/INNISFIL AREABarrie, ON March 8, 2013 -- Technology Professionals, Entrepreneurs, and Consultants in Simcoe County will now have a community of their own to connect with others in their field. Silicon Simcoe, a newly formed, grass-roots organization for experts in the fields of Technology Hardware, Software, and related services. There has been niche user groups in the "705" in the past however there has not been a concerted effort before to assemble Information and Communications Technologies (ICT)pros before. There are many networking organizations and events in Barrie, including BNI, the Barrie Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Connect. Silicon Simcoe will focus strictly on connecting Technology Managers, Administrators, Developers, Consultants, Programmers, and vendors. Our mandate will be to find collaborative opportunities to work together to help grow each other's expertise, opportunities, and businesses in the right direction. Silicon Simcoe was started by Mark Burdon and Derek Rafuse, Consultants at Cloudworker Solutions and Nexxus Solutions respectively. Silicon Simcoe will be a Silver Sponsor at the upcoming Startup Barrie event in May at Georgian College. Mark and Derek started Silicon Simcoe to address the gap in opportunities to meet with others in their field in terms of clients and peers. Silicon Simcoe will meet at Co-Working Venues such as Suite Success in Barrie, as well as other venues in Simcoe County.Silicon Simcoe is modelled after Silicon Peel and Silicon Halton, two thriving ICT Communities directed by Co-founders Chris Herbert of Mi6 & Rick Stomphorst of SearchVelocity in the Oakville/Mississauga area.
